The Gold Coast is renowned for sunkissed
beaches, exciting shopping, a wide range of restaurants and
dining choices and casino. Beyond the beaches is a diverse
natural environment with a sub tropical rainforest hinterland,
natural wetlands, a broadwater and river systems.
Stretching from South Stradbroke Island in the North to Kingscliffe
in the South, the Gold Coast region spans approximately 5000
km with over 70km of coastline in South East Queensland.
Gold Coast City is the fastest growing regional area in Australia
and is also our sixth largest city. The estimated population
as at June 2007 was 524,667 persons. The residents are as
diverse as the area itself with approximately 25% of the population
of international origin.
Tourism is the economic basis for the Gold Coast with millions
of visitors each year holidaying and making day trips to the
City. The City is host to many exciting sporting events and
entertaining festivals each year including the Indy professional
motor race, Surf Life Saving championships and Professional
Golf Tournaments. Other emerging industries include Marine,
IT&T, Education, Health & Medical sectors.
